Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées Art Drawing
$7,550.00 CAD + applicable taxes
This original Vacheron Constantin watch drawing explores the architecture, craftsmanship, and intricate mechanical details behind the Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées.
What fascinates me about drawing watches like the Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées is the way mechanics and aesthetics begin to merge. The skeletonized design exposes the inner workings almost like an architectural structure brought to life. Translating that into graphite means paying attention to every line, reflection, and shadow, a slow and meditative process that turns engineering into visual art while honouring the complexity and craftsmanship of the movement itself.
Why This Watch?
I’m usually drawn to watches that almost feel impossible to fully absorb at first glance, pieces where the eye keeps discovering new layers the longer you observe them. The Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées was one of those watches for me. Between the openworked movement, the architecture of the bridges, and the constant shifting reflections, it became less about simply drawing the watch and more about understanding it piece by piece, over hundreds of hours.

Beyond the Drawing
Pieces like this remind me why I’m so drawn to horology in the first place. Mechanical watches ask you to slow down. The longer you observe them, the more they reveal, not just technically, but visually and emotionally as well.
Limited edition watch giclée prints inspired by this drawing are also available. You can also explore the full Hyperrealistic Watch Art Portfolio for additional original artworks and horology-inspired drawings.
Some of these original drawings began as personal commissions inspired by watches that carried special meaning for their collectors. If you’re interested in commissioning a custom watch drawing, you can learn more about the commission process and available options.
If you’d like to see how this piece evolved over time, I regularly share process videos, close-up details, and studio moments on Instagram.
