Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées
This was my first big-scale watch drawing, so it holds a special place for me. The openworked design of the Métiers d’Art Mécaniques Ajourées is already dramatic on its own, but enlarging it made every detail feel even more architectural. The bridges and cutouts almost behave like gothic windows, and the whole piece has this quiet, cathedral-like presence.
Working at this size forced me to rethink the way I approached precision. Every shape, every curve, every shadow becomes less forgiving when it’s scaled up. But it also becomes more immersive. I spent so much time inside the geometry of this watch that it almost felt like exploring a mechanical sculpture instead of drawing one.
